Magic
It's
about finding the magic that lives in each of us... It is a life
lived in enchantment... being in the wonder, beauty and awe of
all the experiences, relationships and things around us... whether
sacred or profane, mundane or sublime.
Enchantment is a spell that comes over us, an aura of fantasy
and emotion that can settle on the heart... An enchanted life
has many moments when the heart is overwhelmed by beauty and the
imagination is electrified by some haunting quality in the world
or by a spirit or voice speaking from deep within a thing, a place,
or a person... The soul has an absolute, unforgiving need for
regular excursions into enchantment.
(Thomas Moore from "The Re-Enchantment
of Everydy Life") |

| Myth
is not that which is quaint and primitive; it is the core aspect
of our culture and history that defines how we relate to the world,
to the people and earth around us and ultimately to ourselves.
In myth, we find the archetypes, the bigger stories, the universal
and personal struggles that we face in our human drama. When we
are engaged in a mythic consciousness, we can find meaning, compassion
and power as well as a deep connection to those before and after
us who also share this same story like "the hero with a thousand
faces" as Joseph Campbell put it. Once we connect with this
bigger picture, these classic archetypes, we can rest in our own
humility and start to open ourselves to universal wisdom and continuity. |

| Mystery
The
questions and answers... the amazing threads that weave through
our lives, either independently or within the greater tapestry,
make up the mystery of who we are and how we are part of this
inter-connected whole. It is the mystery that brings us back for
more, the passion for learning and expressing our deepest impulses.
As we drive ourselves forward or linger in the shadows of our
disappointments or revel in the small miracles of our everyday
lives; we can only wonder at the complexity and simplicity of
it all. When we allow ourselves to be engaged and present in this
mystery, even when it is painful, we can experience our own fullness
and inter-connection in this amazing life-stream where we either
drift, paddle or flow with the current. |
